Columbia Tournament 23rd April 2011 Report

With both Columbia Med and Columbia Business short of players, our players split up with 6 players (Simon, Sheb, Stefan, Zulu and Scott) joining Columbia Med and 7 players (Jon, Curtis, Jeremy, Chandrew, Calvin, Bryce, Bryan) playing for Columbia Business. Adam played for both teams.
The tournament turned into a fun scrimmage between 2 combined teams.

Columbia Med took 4 tries to nil in the first 2 thirds. (With Adam scoring two, A 60 meter try off an intercepted pass at wing out legging Calvin and a 5 meter try off a scrum faking a switch at fly half) Columbia Business came back with a try from Chandrew in the final third. He took a pass right after a scrum and charged through the opposing wing to get the try.
Stefan scored a try for Med to end the game while latching onto a loose ball that was kicked into the try zone.
Final score: 25-5
Med spent a lot of time near the Business try zone but failed to convert their attempts due to good try zone defence from Business. Business showed great hands and passes among the backs (Mostly yale) but the rain ruined their passes more than desired. They showed greater attacking intent but somehow the conversions did not happen.

Notebook:
- The pitch was muddy and the ball spent more time bouncing around than in people's hands.
- Many dropped passes occured due to the moderate rain throughout the day.
- Columbia Business jerseys were sweet, though smaller than ours.
- [more to follow]
